Beltane and green monsters

Spring is here with all its glory, even tho it's still not more than 15 degrees. But the blossoms are everywhere, love it - gorgeous!

Green monsters. Speaking of spring, last Thursday me and a big group of friends went to the Celtic Fire Festival Beltane on Calton Hill. We celebrate Valborg in Sweden, also with fires and parties but it's quite different. This is a link from Uppsala and the "Champagne race". (Marcus & Gusta always talked about the one in Lund, eventho Uppsala is better ;) )
Anyways, here, 15 000 people gathered this gorgeous and clear night to enjoy the show and view of the city. Everwhere there were people dressed up, mostly in just bodypaint and had different stations on the hill. Ania shouts, oh look, Hobbits. She was right. Juan, you see, I found my friends!

Anyways, all these dressed-up people were walking around the crowd performing or acting strange. I'm at the "plaza" and hear Louise's voice behind me, at the same time a hand grabs my back. So I turn around, thinking there's someone I know but instead this green scary face smiles at me (I was sure she was gonna eat me). Terrified, I swear at her in Swedish and run away to my friends!

It turned out that all the body painted people were part of the show. It all begun on the "greek monument" (pic above) with fires and dancing. After that the "parade" of people (with the queen of spring in the front) walks around to each "station" and performs (about 2 h). I interpreted that she's spring and wakes each creature up. Today I'm off to the gym and later on tonight it's Ponana (mirror place). Maybe gym and party is not the best combination, therefore I choose to quote a brilliant girl
