Reunion. Altho I was almost killed by all the crazy people in the French Metro I managed to find Åsa, so good to see her again (she's a very good friends from uni in Sweden, who studies in France). Happy to see each other we went for a glass of wine in the sun. After have turned down a way-too-old-Italian-guy's offer of drinks, we went to see Emelie & Jenny in San Michelle for some dinner (also lovely girls from uni who studies in Paris). Rosé, good food, memories and updates in the middle of Paris, as good as it gets! Great to see them again, can't believe it's almost been a year.
Me and Åsa continued to another bar, where the bartender had fun sending written messages on recepits but unfortunately had no luck.
Blond comments and Gabby moments. I've always been amazed by Åsa's patience and ability to just handle things I say with such calm and never mock me for them. My only excuse for this one is that I hadn't had coffee or breakfast yet. We were slightly disoriented, standing on some plaza wondering where to go and I say:
- Well, there's a big buildning over there at least if that helps (meaning, it could be used as a land mark or something)
- Gabby, that's the Louvre.
*Silence* and then we just contiued. As you all know, I'm so bloody blond sometimes.
Anyways, enjoyed French breakfast (croissants and coffee) in the sun, while the waiters removed and switched our tables 2 times before the food arrived (French! That's all I'm saying). During the rest of the day we walked around, got some shopping done on Champs Elysée- Triumphal arch, had baguetts for lunch in the park and crepes with Nutella by the Eifel tower.
A funny note, it sounds all romantic walking around in a warm and sunny Paris while birds are singing and flowers are in bloom. However, this = spring => pollen! This ended up in both of us being super allergic and sneezing all of the time! Haha, it's always something! We went back to our hostel (which was nice and frech), had some cheap rosé and used the iPod as the "stereo", while getting ready- great preparty!
Gabby moment. I placed my clothes on the hangers above the toilet in the bathroom. Since the toilet cover was open I thought, I better remove my clothes so they don't fall in, thought I had everything, when my socks fall down in to the water. So much for being proactive!
The evening continued with some tapas in Marais and ended up at the club Showcase where we met some of Åsa's friends. Great evening, dispite the super expensive drinks (thank God for £2.5 in Edinburgh).
Maps are overrated. During sushi night I learned some French frases but couldn't be bothered and relied on Åsa instead. I was also impressed by Åsa's ability to guide us through the city with only a map over the Metro. We found over way down to the Marais area, saw Notre Dame (way too long queue to get in), enjoyed some more shopping and had dinner with the Swedish girls again. Both Jenny & Emelie and Raphael recommended us to go to the club Le Cab, but it was absolutely pooring that evening so we just ran into a lounge bar and had some mojitos. Very nice! Were so tempted to see Tiesto who played that evening, but you can't get it all can you?
Got back to Edinburgh on Sunday, saw some familiar faces at the airport (seemed like the place to be) and went to Stockkholm the same day. Now I'll enjoy some time with family, friends, do some work and apply for jobs! Wish me luck.
Je ne sais pas et puis ça met égal. Au revoir.
