"... your face is all red"

Sunday, just got back from a jogg in the sunshine and thought it was a good idea to do some blogging. The theme will mostly be about cultural differences.

Teachers with humor? This sounds crazy, but I had an interesting accounting class the other day. Mostly because the teacher actually had a sense of humor and is extreemely sarcastic. Of course he has the typical accoutning-teacher humor but it's still ok. During a seminar, out of the blue, he came to me and said "Are you coming from the gym or something? "Your face is all red". Then he went away. In the end of the class he refered back to that we can go and do whatever we want, looking at me and saying "You can go back to the gym". Haha. Obviously he's not used to my usual tomato red cheeks. My Economics teacher mostly laughs at her own jokes, but I like that they actually have some humor, Swedish teachers tend to be so accurate and correct all the time.

Rugby. I also learned during accounting that the Scottish rugby team sucks and you're better of cheering for Ireland. I guess I have to take on a more humble attitude and stop trying to bitch with Brian, especially now with the game coming up!
Continuing, it was a last minute thing but I got to see Scotland-Italy yesterday. Was sitting in the kitchen with my coffee (just woke up) when Maddy asks if I want to join her and her friends to see the game, 20 min later we were outside the door! I enjoyed the game, great atmosphere, especially since Scotland crushed them! Moaha.

Cocktail party. Had a cocktail party here in the flat for my friends. Everyone contributed with something so we had a great big bar. I was making drinks, practising my mixing skills (have to admit, Long Island Icedtea is not one of them), but the rest were good =). I also got to hear "the Gabby song" performed by JB (also with guitarr), he wrote that one after the pubcrawl I think. My first song, I'm so excited!

Fat-tuesday. It's a tradition here to eat pancakes on "fat tuesday". However, I thought I'd spread my Swedish tradition to my lovely flat mates, making semlor. A sweet cardamom bun, filled with marzipan, topped with wipped cream. Lovely!

Unexpected negotiation. Me and Ania were looking for hairdressers to drop in for a cheap haircut ( not a $12 tho! :P ) Went around to all these chic hairdressers, that still have good student discounts (offers are amazing here). Ended up in one place that had time for both of us but were £35, more than we wanted to pay. They offered us a better price but it was still too much, trying to leave, almost out through the door, the manager calls on us and offers a haircut from the top hairdressers for £23 each. Eeh, yes please! Don't know what happened but I wasn't complaining!

Abbreviations to a new level. This sign was in a pub on the door leading in to the ladies room, brilliant!
